Erudo — word game for Android
Last updated: October 19, 2026
This policy explains what information Erudo (Ukrainian: Ерудо), a word game for Android, processes, why, and what choices you have. Erudo is made by Yuzvix, an individual developer (“we”, “us”). Questions about this policy or your data: [email protected].
Summary
- No account. Erudo has no sign-up or sign-in and never asks for your name, e-mail address or phone number.
- Ads. The free version shows Google AdMob ads on the main menu and the results screen — never during a game — and offers an optional video that unlocks a hint. AdMob uses device identifiers such as your Advertising ID. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent first and can change your choice at any time in the app’s Settings, under Ad privacy.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends us a technical report so we can fix the bug.
- Online games. The nickname you type and the game itself are stored in an online room that the other players in it can see.
- Nearby games go directly between the devices in the game, not through our servers.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play. We never see your card details.
- Everything else — saved games, settings, statistics — stays on your device.
- We do not sell your personal information for money (section 8 explains how ads fit US privacy laws).
1. Who Is Responsible
Yuzvix, an individual developer, publishes Erudo and decides how the information described here is processed — the “controller” under data protection law. You can reach us at [email protected]. The third-party services the app relies on (section 4) also process some of this information under their own privacy policies.
2. What the App Processes and Why
Erudo works without an account. This is everything it processes, feature by feature.
2.1 Advertising — Google AdMob
Unless you have bought Premium, Erudo shows banner ads on the main menu and on the game-over and results screens. Ads are never shown during a game. You can also choose to watch a short rewarded video to unlock a hint; it plays only when you tap to watch it.
Ads are served by Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. To deliver them, Google may collect:
- device identifiers, including the Android Advertising ID;
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
- information about your device and its operating system;
- how you interact with ads — for example, which ads were shown and whether you tapped one.
Google uses this to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and detect fraud and abuse — and, where you allow it, to show ads personalised to your interests. Google may work with other ad technology providers to fill ad requests.
Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. In these regions the app shows a consent form from Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP), which follows the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF), before it shows ads. The form lists the ad technology providers involved, and your choice decides whether ads may be personalised and whether your device may be used for advertising purposes. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in the app: Settings → Ad privacy → Change. If you do not consent, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads.
Elsewhere, Google may personalise ads unless you opt out through your Advertising ID settings (below) or, where the app shows it, the Ad privacy option in Settings.
Your Advertising ID. You can reset or delete it at any time in Android’s settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads). Once it is deleted, apps receive a string of zeros instead of the ID.
Premium has no ads. If you buy Premium, the app shows no ads and does not initialise the Google Mobile Ads SDK.

2.2 Crash Reports — Firebase Crashlytics
If Erudo crashes, the version distributed through Google Play sends a crash report to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service. A report contains:
- technical details of the error (a stack trace — the part of the app’s code that failed);
- your device model and Android version;
- the app version;
- a random Crashlytics installation identifier, created for this installation of the app;
- the time of the crash.
We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs. We do not add your nickname, your games or your Advertising ID to them. Firebase keeps crash reports for 90 days. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
2.3 Online Games — Firebase Realtime Database
When you create or join an online room with its 4-digit code, the app stores the following in that room, in Google’s Firebase Realtime Database (Google Cloud, region europe-west1, Belgium):
- the nickname you typed;
- a random player ID generated by the app;
- whether you are online, and when you were last seen;
- your moves and the state of the game;
- the room’s settings and timestamps.
This information is visible to the other players in the same room — that is how they see your nickname, your moves and whether you are connected. We never ask for your real name, e-mail address or phone number, so please choose a nickname you are happy for other players to see.
How long it is kept. Room data stays in the database until the room is cleaned up: a finished or abandoned room is deleted when its code is reused for a new room, and a room counts as abandoned once it has waited for players for more than 24 hours or all of its players have been offline for 7 days. To have a room deleted sooner, e-mail [email protected] with the room code and your nickname.
2.4 Nearby Games — Google Nearby Connections
Nearby games use Google Nearby Connections, part of Google Play services, to connect devices directly over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Your nickname and the game data travel only to the other devices in that game; they are not sent to our servers.
Permissions. To find nearby players, Android requires the Nearby devices permission (Android 12 and later) and, on Android 12 and earlier, the location permission — older Android versions treat Bluetooth and Wi-Fi scanning as location access. Erudo uses these permissions only to discover and connect to nearby devices; it does not read or store your location. The app asks for them only when you open the Nearby lobby. If you decline, you can still play against the AI or online.
2.5 Premium Purchase — Google Play Billing
Erudo offers one optional in-app purchase, Premium, which removes ads and the free version’s limit of one online game per day. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play under Google’s terms and privacy policy. The app receives only the purchase status and a purchase token from Google Play, which it uses to unlock Premium; we never receive your card or other payment details. Like every Google Play developer, we also receive order records from Google Play for accounting, tax and refunds (such as the order number, date, price and the buyer’s country or region).
2.6 Dictionary Downloads
Dictionaries are not built into the app: you download the languages you choose from our file server, erudit-files.yuzvix.com, which runs on Cloudflare (R2 storage and CDN). As with any web request, Cloudflare receives your device’s IP address and standard request details (such as the time and the file requested). We do not use this to identify you and do not link it to a person. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
2.7 Information That Stays on Your Device
The following is stored only on your phone or tablet and is not sent to us:
- saved games and your settings;
- statistics and match history, including your opponents’ nicknames;
- whether you own Premium, your hint credits and the free version’s daily online-game counter.
This data is not included in Android cloud backups. Clearing the app’s data in Android settings, or uninstalling the app, deletes all of it.
2.8 E-mails to Support
If you e-mail us, we use your e-mail address and the contents of your message only to answer you and handle your request.
2.9 What Erudo Does Not Do
- It has no user accounts and no sign-in.
- It does not include Google Analytics for Firebase or any other analytics SDK.
- It does not access your contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
3. Legal Bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the Swiss data protection law, we rely on these legal bases:
- Consent — for personalised ads and for storing or accessing information on your device for advertising, as asked in the consent form. You can withdraw consent at any time under Settings → Ad privacy; this does not affect processing that took place before.
- Legitimate interests — for crash reports (keeping the app working), fraud prevention and security, delivering non-personalised ads that fund the free version where the consent framework does not require your consent, and answering your e-mails. You can object to this processing (section 7).
- Performance of a contract — for the features you ask to use: online and Nearby games, dictionary downloads and the Premium purchase.
- Legal obligations — for keeping purchase records where tax or accounting law requires it, and for responding to lawful requests from authorities.
4. Who Receives Information
- Google — as the provider of AdMob and the User Messaging Platform (ads and consent), Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports), Firebase Realtime Database (online rooms), Google Play Billing (purchases) and Nearby Connections (nearby games). Firebase processes data on our behalf; for advertising, Google also uses information for its own purposes as described in its privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — which hosts and delivers the dictionary downloads.
- Other players — who see your nickname and the game in online rooms and Nearby games you join.
- Authorities — only if the law requires us to disclose information.
We do not sell personal information for money and share it only with the recipients listed above.
5. International Transfers
Online rooms are stored in the EU (Belgium). Google and Cloudflare operate worldwide, so information about ads, crashes, purchases and downloads may be processed in other countries, including the United States. For transfers out of the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, these companies rely on safeguards recognised by data protection law, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (with its UK and Swiss extensions) and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How Long Information Is Kept
- Online rooms — until the room is cleaned up (section 2.3), or sooner if you ask us.
- Crash reports — 90 days, in Firebase Crashlytics.
- Ad data — kept by Google under its own policies. We see only aggregated ad reports.
- Purchase records — as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Support e-mails — as long as needed to handle your request.
- Nearby games — not stored by us; each player’s device keeps its own saved game and history.
- On-device data — until you clear the app’s data or uninstall the app.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Choices in the app and on your device
- Change your ad consent under Settings → Ad privacy (shown where Google requires it).
- Reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android settings.
- Buy Premium to turn ads off.
- Play against the AI or Nearby if you do not want your nickname stored online.
- Decline the Nearby permissions, or revoke them later in Android settings.
- Clear the app’s data or uninstall it to delete everything stored on your device.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — in particular in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — you have the right to access your personal data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to its processing (including processing based on legitimate interests), receive it in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example where you live or work: authorities in the EEA, the ICO in the UK, or the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Switzerland.
How to make a request
E-mail [email protected]. Because Erudo has no accounts, we do not know who you are, and most information can only be found from details you give us: for online games, please include the room code, the nickname you used and roughly when you played. Ad data held by Google is controlled through your consent choices and your Advertising ID. Crash reports are not linked to your identity, so we usually cannot pick out a particular person’s reports. We may ask for details to confirm that a request is yours, and we aim to reply within one month.
8. United States Privacy Rights
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we process, to access, correct or delete it, to opt out of its “sale”, “sharing” or use for targeted advertising, and not to be treated differently for using these rights.
The app processes these categories of personal information: identifiers (Advertising ID, IP address, installation and player IDs, nickname), commercial information (whether you bought Premium), internet or other electronic activity (interaction with ads, games in online rooms) and approximate location inferred from your IP address (by Google, for ads). It does not process sensitive personal information.
We do not sell personal information for money. However, letting Google AdMob use your Advertising ID and similar data to show ads may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law, or as “targeted advertising” under other state laws. To opt out, delete your Advertising ID in Android settings (on older Android versions, turn on “Opt out of Ads Personalization”) and, where the app shows it, use Settings → Ad privacy. To use your other rights, e-mail [email protected]; you may also use an authorised agent. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer.
9. Children
Erudo is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information — for example, a nickname in an online room — contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. Security
The app connects to Firebase, Google Play and our dictionary server over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and it collects only what each feature needs. Still, no system is completely secure, and anyone in an online room can see the nickname and game data shared there — so do not put personal details in your nickname.
11. Changes to This Policy
We will update this page when the app or the law changes and change the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change significantly affects how your information is used, we will make it clear in the app or on this page, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
